    In the Weeds Walking Tour

    Join in Summer Species, BBP’s annual celebration of a native plant or animal found along Buffalo Bayou!

    This year, our In the Weeds Walks will explore native plants and the insects that pollinate them along Buffalo Bayou! Follow along this discovery tour of Houston’s historic waterway ecosystem with Nancy Greig, founding director of the Cockrell Butterfly Center (now retired). An avid natural historian “jack of all trades”, she has particular interest in plants and insects, but birds, mammals, herpetofauna, and fish are all on her radar. At home she keeps busy with a butterfly garden, honey bee hives, and purple martin houses.

    Children under 12: free

    90 minutes

    Meeting Location
    Lost Lake, just below Flora Restaurant (3422 Allen Parkway at Dunlavy)
    Parking is recommended at the 300 block of Jackson Hill Street off Memorial Drive. More information available here.

    Walking tours are 90 minutes and cover approximately 3 miles. Comfortable clothing, good walking shoes, and a water bottle are recommended.

    NOCHE DE LUCES 2025

    Aurora Picture Show and Buffalo Bayou Partnership se unen para presentar este evento anual gratuito, con activaciones de videoarte en estructuras a lo largo de los senderos frente al agua de Buffalo Bayou East. El 29 de marzo, los artistas de Houston Saúl Hernández-Vargas, Diana-Sofia Estrada e Isogram Media Studio han sido comisionados para crear nuevas instalaciones multimedia específicas para el sitio a lo largo de un tramo de media milla de los senderos del bayou. También habrá un mercado con camiones de comida locales, vendedores del barrio y música a cargo de DJ Felix. ¡Únete a nosotros para esta experiencia festiva y única en Houston!

    Sobre los artistas

    Diana-Sofia Estrada es una artista visual y educadora guatemalteca-estadounidense nacida en Houston. Sus pinturas, animaciones, instalaciones y trabajos de práctica social cuestionan nuestra cultura visual inmediata. Ha exhibido su obra a nivel nacional e internacional y actualmente es artista residente en Box13 Artspace en Houston.

    Saúl Hernández-Vargas es un artista visual y escritor con sede en Houston. Su trabajo se centra en la performatividad material, el encuadre de objetos históricos y la ficción. Ganador del premio Artadia y exalumno del Programa Core del Museo de Bellas Artes de Houston, presentó su primera exposición individual en un museo en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo y de las Culturas de Oaxaca el pasado octubre.

    Isogram Media Studio (los artistas de Houston Ha Na Lee y James Hughes) crea experiencias inmersivas a través del arte público y obras basadas en proyección. Utilizando video, sonido, máquinas cinéticas y elementos interactivos, Lee y Hughes exploran los límites del arte contemporáneo, la innovación tecnológica y la interacción con el público.

    Entrada: La entrada de NOCHE DE LUCES 2025 estará ubicada en 333 South Jensen Drive.

    Estacionamiento: El estacionamiento para este evento es extremadamente limitado. Se recomienda el uso de servicios de transporte compartido (rideshare), viajes en grupo, transporte público, bicicleta o caminar.

    Rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.): Punto de llegada y salida en 333 South Jensen Drive.

    Transporte público: El evento es accesible a través de las rutas de autobús 6, 30 y 48 de Houston METRO, con parada en Talento Bilingüe de Houston en la intersección de South Jensen Drive y Ann Street. Planea tu ruta de transporte público aquí.

  • Monthly Volunteer Workday

    Monthly Volunteer Workday

    Time: 8:30 to 11:30 am

    Meeting Location / Parking: Details will be provided after registration.

    Volunteers, ages 9 and up, are invited to join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for community-wide volunteer days at Buffalo Bayou Park happening the third Saturday of each month. Whether volunteering as an individual or a small group, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy.

    Interested individuals and small groups can sign up here. Larger groups can schedule another day during the month by emailing volunteer@buffalobayou.org.

    Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: trash pick-up, mulching and weed removal. We do ask that all volunteers bring their own work gloves. All other necessary work tools will be provided by BBP.
