Join us on the second Saturday of the month from May through August from 9 – 11am for the Invasive Plant Eradication Unit will pop-up!
Artist Mark Dion created the Invasive Plant Eradication Unit in 2011 as an interactive artwork responding to the one of Buffalo Bayou’s key challenges: the proliferation of non-native species. For Summer Species, the Invasive Plant Eradication Unit will pop-up at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park to share information on common invasive species in our area, the importance of native species, and what we can do to sustain them.
Visitors will be able to make native seed “bombs” to help spread native species at home or in the park!
In addition, visitors can join Lualo Studio and Buffalo Bayou Partnership for a hands-on flower pounding workshop using native Texas plants to create eco-printed fabric. As we make art together, we’ll share stories about land, migration, and memory—honoring those who came before us and those who continue to grow roots here. Come connect, reflect, and create with community.
