Carmen Herrera: Holiday Ornaments to Go

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for some outdoor and at-home family fun. Stop by the installation Carmen Herrera: Estructuras Monumentales in Buffalo Bayou Park  (on view through April 23, 2021) to see the vivid sculptures by Carmen Herrera and pick up your MFAH “Holiday Ornaments to Go” kit.

As you explore the site, enjoy holiday tunes, and grab some tasty tacos, a paleta, or hot chocolate (available for purchase). When you get home with your art kit, it’s time to color, fold, and cut to create your own colorful geometric shape to use as a holiday ornament!

See more of Herrera’s geometric abstraction at the MFAH in Carmen Herrera: Structuring Surfaces, the first exhibition at the Museum exclusively devoted to the work of the internationally celebrated artist. On view through January 18, 2021, this exhibition showcases her work from the 1960s to the present, including paintings, drawings, prints, wall structures, and objects.
