DESCRIPTION:Fireworks will ignite the sky and country tunes will set the stage for Houston’s signature annual patriotic celebration\, US Family Health Plan Freedom Over Texas from 4 – 10 pm on Monday\, July 4 at the recently renovated Eleanor Tinsley Park in Buffalo Bayou Park. \nThere will be a number of park and trail closures in preparation for this civic celebration – please be mindful of the set-up crews and plan your visit to Buffalo Bayou Park accordingly. \nThe Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is CLOSED 6/30-7/3/2016\nThe Water Works Complex (Wortham Insurance Visitor Center\, Bike Barn\, The Brown Foundation Lawn) is CLOSED 6/30-7/5/2016\nThe Barbara Fish Daniel Nature Play Area is CLOSED 6/30-7/5/2016\nThe Lost Lake Visitor Center is CLOSED on 7/4/2016 \n\nAll trails on the north side of the bayou between the Sabine Street Bridge and Tapley Tributary are closed through Tuesday\, July 5th. There will also be intermittent closures of the trails on the south side of the bayou between the Sabine Street Bridge and Allen Parkway/Taft Street through Saturday\, July 2nd. SUMMARY:Buffalo Bend Nature Park Grand Opening
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) and Commissioner Jack Morman of Harris County Precinct Two invite the public to celebrate the completion and opening of Buffalo Bend Nature Park\, a scenic 10-acre greenspace parcel of land located on S/Sgt. Macario Garcia Drive in Houston’s East End\, near the Port of Houston turning basin. \nPhase II enhancements include hike and bike trails\, a bayou overlook shelter\, interpretive signage\, and amenities such as benches and trash receptacles.  Other park features include three wetland ponds in which 10\,000 wetland plants have been planted\, rock walls\, and a cistern. \nWith a $500\,000 Texas Parks & Wildlife grant and matching funds raised by BBP and Harris County Precinct 2\, the non-profit organization and the County were able to proceed with both phases of design and construction. \nSWA Group was responsible for landscape architecture\, while CORE Design Studio and Interpretive Insights developed the interpretive signage.
