DESCRIPTION:Time: 8:30 to 11:30 am\nParking: City Lot H\nCheck-In Location: Contact volunteer@buffalobayou.org for location details \nHoustonians\, ages 9 and up\, are invited to join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for community-wide volunteer days at Buffalo Bayou Park happening the third Saturday of each month. Whether volunteering as an individual or a small group\, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy. \nIndividuals can register by completing our online waiver. Small groups can reserve spaces and larger groups can schedule another day during the month by emailing volunteer@buffalobayou.org. \nVolunteers will help with a variety of tasks\, including but not limited to: trash pick-up\, mulching and weed removal. We do ask that all volunteers bring their own work gloves. DESCRIPTION:We’re fluttering into summer with a series of nature walks exploring this year’s Summer Species\, butterflies! Learn about local butterfly species\, life cycle\, and habitat on this discovery tour of Buffalo Bayou with Nancy Greig\, founding director of the Cockrell Butterfly Center (now retired). An avid natural historian “jack of all trades”\, she has a particular interest in native plants and insects. At home she keeps busy with a butterfly garden\, honeybee hives\, and purple martin houses. \nAdditional Information: \nMeet at Jackson Hill Bridge (on the Allen Parkway side) just east of Flora Restaurant. \nParking is recommended at the 300 block of Jackson Hill Street off Memorial Drive. More information available here. \nWalking tours are 90 minutes and cover approximately 3 miles. Comfortable clothing and good walking shoes recommended. \nRSVP

Look for graceful herons\, jumping fish\, turtles\, and the occasional alligator on the banks. \nTours are approximately 45 minutes long and leave promptly on the hour beginning at 5pm.
