What to bring:  You should be prepared for any kind of weather, with anything including layers and rain gear, to sunscreen and a hat.  Clothing and sturdy closed shoes suitable for getting wet and muddy should be worn.  You will probably get dirty.  Extras like insect repellent, waders or boots, your own gloves, cameras, binoculars (for the birds, etc.), and a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home are things you can consider.  Another handy item is a rake or other similar tool which would serve as an extension of your arm, enabling you to reach debris without having to overly exert yourself.

10 Clean-up/ Safety Instructions:

1. VOLUNTEERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING ALL TRASH BAGS BACK TO THE COLLECTION AREA.

2. Wear appropriate clothing and gloves.  Long sleeves can protect against poison ivy, scratchy brush, and sunburn.

3. Monitor children and student groups closely.

4. There are certain items that are hazardous and should NOT be collected.  Do not pick up heavy items or partially buried items, broken glass, medical waste, or 55-gallon drums or similar materials.  They may be flammable or toxic.  Note the location of these hazardous drums and report them to the zone captain or the registration table.  The proper authority will be called for the collection of these items.

5. Tires can be collected but DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE DUMPSTER.  Tires will be piled near the dumpster.

6. Please return gloves to the registration area.  They will be washed and recycled.

7. Return to the registration area no later than 11:30 AM, recycle gloves, discard trash, and proceed to your hot dog pick-up location!  Lunch, door prizes, entertainment, exhibits and souvenirs will be provided!
