The Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the University of St. Thomas have a formal agreement to use Buffalo Bayou as an outdoor classroom and laboratory. The University’s Department of Environmental Studies is focused on urban ecosystems and environmental challenges and this partnership gives students immediate access to hands-on environmental challenges in an urban watershed.

Throughout the year, about 400 UST students will spend eight hours each in a variety of projects in coordination with the Partnership staff. Projects include an extensive water quality analysis of water in and around outfalls draining into the bayou and vegetation management projects in the bayou’s west sector.
