Rediscovering Allen's Landing

Sunday, January 13 2-4pm

Meet at Allen’s Landing Park, 1001 Commerce (at Main Street)

Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance (GHPA) invite you to explore Houston’s birthplace, Allen’s Landing and learn Buffalo Bayou’s role in the city’s development during a guided history hike.

Docents with the GHPA will share stories of how Allen’s Landing was the center for port activity; tour participants will walk the area along Commerce and Main Street to view the renovated M&M Building, now housing the University of Houston Downtown and tour the newly restored Willow Street Pump Station.

How much: $7 GHPA Members

                   $10 Non-memebers (cash or check)
Reservations are not required.

What else: Please arrive by 1:30 p.m. on the day of the tour in Allen’s Landing Park, 1001 Commerce to be divided into groups. The tour begins at 2 p.m. The last tour group leaves at 2:10 p.m.

Parking: Parking is free on downtown streets on Sundays. Paid parking is available in nearby lots. Please note there are no public restrooms along the tour route.
