The Buffalo Bayou Partnership
master plan, Buffalo Bayou and Beyond,
calls for substantial flood control, recreational and ecological investment
along the bayou corridor. The plan also recommends that the Partnership
work to promote private development of bayou-friendly amenities like
cafes, bike and boat rentals, and other entertainment facilities.
Over the past 8 years, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership has raised or leveraged
over $48 million to help develop the trails and facilities needed to
make our bayou a world-class attraction.
Our partners are currently working on developing and refitting about
10 miles of trails on both sides of the bayou from Shepherd Drive to
Lockwood Drive. The Buffalo Bayou trails will soon link to city and
county trails along White Oak and Brays Bayous. Other recent projects
include the development downtown parks: Sabine-to-Bagby,
Sesquicentennial Park, the
North Side Trail, and Allen’s
Landing.
