'The purpose of bayou beautification would be to create not a deserted wilderness but a signature waterway that residents and visitors could enjoy, one that at the same time would add value to nearby property—residential, commercial and industrial.'

'The numerous historic sites and events which have taken place in and around Buffalo Bayou make this area an ideal candidate for designation as a National Heritage Area. With the help of our city leaders and the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, we have a good chance to gain a positive recommendation from the National Park Service on our designation request.'

'Best use of taxpayer dollars: Buffalo Bayou Revitalization. Buffalo Bayou, the stream that spawned Houston in 1836, is well on its way back from city cesspool to civic asset thanks to a combined public-private effort … In a city renowned for demolishing its heritage, the comeback of the bayou hopefully heralds a new civic mindset.'

'The beautification of Buffalo Bayou is a prime candidate to be the next object of a concerted effort to improve Houston's quality of life.'
